...Kung Fu Panda 2: Fun for the whole Family...
Movie Review - Po returned and this time it is even funnier than ever. I have watched the first movie at a 2D cinema and now on the 3D cinema. And it is very interesting to see the differences in both 2D and 3D. But that is not the point of the whole movie experience. Kung Fu Panda 2 brings back the characters from the first movie including Po, Master Tigress, Master Mantis, Master Crane, Master Monkey, Master Viper and Master Shifu.
The story started when a story teller named Soothsayer told the story about a kingdom in China called Gongmen. The kingdom was ruled by the peacock clan and had an heir named Lord Shen. The kingdom was specialize in fireworks but Lord Shen has a way to make fireworks to become a weapon. His parents was scared by their son ambition and consult the wise Soothsayer. Soothsayer told that one day a warrior of black and white would defeat Lord Shen. Heard about this matter, Lord Shen then set out to exterminated every panda in the region. Lord Shen's parent heard about their son action and soon outcast him from the kingdom. The rest is up for you to find out if you watch this movie.
What I love about this movie is the element of family and friends working together to defeat the greater evil. Although Po is adopted by Mr. Ping. Po always been grateful for having a father like him. His father had taught him and love him very much. Even when Po is busy saving China; he never stop thinking about his son. Then there's the tragedy. The tragedy where Po's family and clan was wipe out by Lord Shen (sounds like Sub Zero and Scorpion to me). Po was not the kind of person (animal in this case) who would be blinded by rage and vengeance. A real attribute of a dragon warrior and worthy for his title.
The introduction of new characters in this movie was unnecessary for me but important I guess. The introduction of three legendary master; Master Storming Ox, Master Croc and Master Thundering Rhino add color to the Kung Fu world. But it is funny how these three legendary masters was easily defeated. I think it is more like a machine gun versus your hand. Then the plot was very typical. Stop evil plan and restore order. But the level of humor and action has outbalanced the typical storyline and makes it really fun to watch. And the 3D action is really surreal.
Conclusion - I guess this is an enjoyable movie than the first one. I do wish that the plot was a bit thicker. But who is complaining? I do enjoy the movie very much and would like to watch it again. Oh yeah, did I mention that this cast of movie is also joined by Dennis Haysbert (The Unit), Victor Garber (Alias)and Jean Claude Van Damme (Universal Soldiers)? Just watch it and bring your family and friends. It is a great movie.
